Greg and company,

As some of you probably know, I do the support for the sq905 cameras in
libgphoto2.

Just after Christmas, someone reported a new sq905 camera, saying that it
did not work. The log file showed the problem was that data sent from the
camera on the bulk pipe seems to get dropped:

> 1. what kind of board do you have?
PCChips M599LMR, which is has a k6-2 400 w/ 384 MiB RAM, and PC100
front-side bus

(some googling by me finds that this board has an SIS 530/5595 chipset)

I suspected a problem with the board because it transmits the control
sequences for the camera just fine but most of the data gets dropped.
Becoming convinced of this at least as a possibility, the owner tried
dropping back from 2.6.8 to 2.4.27 and found that the problem was solved
thereby. Says the problem also affects his scanner, and the solution is
the same.

I do not know if this is already a known problem. If it is not, I am
hopeful that the owner might be willing to do some further testing. Me, I
find it interesting that he says 2.4.27 works for him with his camera and
his scanner, and 2.6.8 does not, though I do not claim to know the reasons
why that might be the case.
