Some versions are a bit more problematic than others. The latest stuff (on the linux-usb downloads page) should come with (8051 ASM) source ... please post patches if you fix any problems.
Oh yeah, about that: anyone know where I can find the 8051 assembler mentioned in the README (http://shop-pdp.kent.edu/ doesn't seem to be up). Or is the SDCC assembler ok, despite what the README and some googling led me to believe?
