No luck with remote console (no serial - its a laptop and I couldn't get netconsole to work yet.) In case it might help someone - I worked around the problem for now by modifying FC3 rc.sysinit/local to load usb-storage later.
Also, I see another strange thing with usb-storage -It prints the below message twice in dmesg. Never seen that..
