Manual load did not help. Neither with rc4, rc5 nor final. I'd also dismiss
the usb host adapter as I tried 4 different machines ("Intel ICH5","Intel
ICH4","Intel 82801BA" and "ALI USB 1.1 r3 (Acer)")

I meant the "usbnet" from the host the Zaurus is being connected *to*, not the
Zaurus itself (it is running a stock Sharp ROM - not OZ - as I need the
Japanese hand writing support).

This is just a proof that I read the source ;-). I stubled over usbnet.c,
lines 3448 to 3455. Identifying C860 as C760 should be perfectly fine anyway
(with me, at least).
