I finally found the source of the error.
Yesterday I made a test by copying a bunch of datas from lacie1 to
lacieroot, and I noticed that this time the errors did not came from
lacieroot as it happened before, but from lacie1...
So today I decided to plug both disks on other plugs, and made the following
tests (with about 25 Go of data, so I think it's a good test in that
regard):

- copy from lacie1 to lacieroot
- copy of the same files from lacieroot to lacie1
- md5sum of both directories (on lacieroot and lacie1) at the same time.

Not a single error. So I am glad to say that the error was an hardware one,
and came from a particular plug of the root hub of the machine. This does
not come too much as a surprise, as it is a mini-form factor ("openbrick
ng"), and EM interferences might happen (as I saw it as a possible cause
of error with your problem). At least I identified the plug where the
problems happen... It also explains why the additional hub solved the
problem (I do not remember where it was plugged, but most probably on a
correct plug).

I also saw that your problems were hardware-related... Too bad designers
seem to forget about sensitivity to EM interferences, I suppose.

Anyway, I am ashamed to have made some people on the list (especially Alan)
lose their time with me, and if I ever meet them in flesh, they can remind
me that I must pay them a drink :-). What's funny is that the usb reset
patch from Alan corrected a hardware problem :-).

Many thanks people, and keep up the excellent work.
Samuel
