I've now bought an Adaptec AUA-3100. It uses a NEC D720101 which is EHCI 1.0 
compliant. It looks much more solid than the cheap ALI and VIA cards I 
previously tried: the plugs have better shielding and feel more solid, the 
board has a bigger size and the connections on the board are thicker.

And now it works! Not one single reset or disconnect in 4 hours testing I've 
done today. 

So if anyone got problems with a lot of resets and disconnects I recommend 
trying out a better brand-name board like this.
