In come to my attention that the later SuSE kernel has change the /proc/bus/usb/devices to /proc/bus/usb/devices_please-use-sysfs-instead.
Of course, that breaks the VMWare and I add some option to use this wired file name. I am wondering how to get the devices change event from sysfs in the user space if VMware want to use sysfs instead? I have another question is about USB hot plug. Normally the hot plug loads the kernel module for new arrive device. Is there a way to tell the kernel that some user space program (like VMWare) want to drive the new devices so skip the kernel driver path? Some device (e.g. palm) will not work very well for VMware if get to kernel driver first. Right now VMware ask user to disable hot plug in order to make auto connect working. It will be great if VMware can play nice with the hot plug manager.
