You should actually try that with two usbnet patches ... the one I posted
is known to work on one device, but there was also a followup patch to
make it ignore one of the bits that was being set.  (One of many reasons
that particular pseudo-MDLM protocol is borked...)

And when you post kernel log messages, please make sure that's the "dmesg"
output with CONFIG_USB_DEBUG defined ...

What I'll do is post a replacement patch, merging both usbnet patches with
whatever else seems necessary.  Meanwhile, stock 2.6.12-rc3 should be fine;
except probably for the C-700, C-750/760, and SL-6000.
