I think a similar sysfs problem may be present in -mm also.

Please try 2.6.12-rc4 together with this patch:

http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/gregkh/gregkh-2.6/gregkh-01-driver-2.6.12-rc4.patch
