Hello USB hackers, I would like to (belatedly) register a complaint concerning this patch: <URL:http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-devel&m=110313153001002&w=2>
Dave Brownell writes, "the only penalty is increased power consumption (from OHCI clocks) on boards/chips that don't work right." Sadly it seems that the USB controller on the Toshiba Libretto L5 is one of those that don't work right. I recently discovered that mine was using excessive battery power because the root hub wasn't suspending itself as it should; reverting the patch solved this problem. I'd be much obliged if anyone could provide a better workaround. I'm not much for driver hacking but I can provide any diagnostics you might want. Here's an lspci output for starters.
