I have a quick question about usb storage. I am trying to build a kernel (2.6) that will boot off of usb storage drive.

I have a need where if I could boot off usb storage drive, then mount the hard drive, that would be great.

I can get the image on to the usb storage drive and even boot from the device, but the kernel panics because it cannot mount the root filesystem (/dev/sda does not exist until later).

How do I force the usb filesystem in the kernel or hard link the /dev/sda entry so / can be mounted ?
