Replace the USB 2.0 hub with a USB 1.1 hub (if you can find one).
I see what I can do.
Retrying an unsuccessful high-speed connection with a full-speed
controller is a good idea. Implementing it would require a change to the
USB HCD internal API, but it could be worthwhile. It's something for the
developers to think about...
