The first step, if at all possible, is to upgrade to 2.6.11 or 2.6.12.

If you can't do that, turn on USB verbose debugging in the kernel 
configuration (CONFIG_USB_DEBUG) and post the dmesg output showing what 
happens when you plug in your hub and other device.
