I haven't looked at the driver in Greg's tree, but I'm afraid your patch won't help my printer. To make my printer work you need to have FSBR running the whole time. You get one packet through every 112 msecs or so. So if you turn off FSBR after 50msec of inactivity, it will stop working. If that was increased to 120msecs of inactivity, it would at least be worth testing.
