Yup. He said:

I can't verify that not having the card. If the patch allows him to run
"udev vol_id" but he can't run it sans the patch, _something_ is up.

Have you ever tried to read to the last sector on your card?

Also, while the behavior should be the same with regards to capacity,
you're using ub, while he's using usb-storage.
