Kernel Version: Seems to affect 2.6.x series so far Status: NEW Severity: normal Owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Submitter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Most recent kernel where this bug did not occur: don't know will try a 2.4 series later Distribution: Slackware 10.2 Hardware Environment: AMD Athlon xp2000 K7S5a Pro Rev 5.0 512M Ram Software Environment: Gnome 2.12.3 from dropline Problem Description: The motherboard provides 4 usb 2.0 ports and 6 usb 1.1 ports, the latter from headers on the board. When I attach my Datafab CompactFlash Reader to the USB 2.0 ports at he back of the unit everything mounts with out a problem, wether the format of the CompactFlash card is ext2-3 or msdos. However if I try to mount the card on the 1.1 ports with the filesystem type as ext2 or 3, the card will not mount. msdos filesystems will mount fine or either the usb 2.0 or 1.1 ports. Is this a bug or a feature? I know there is really little reason to even use anything like ext2-3 on a compactflash card, but this is a puzzle all the same. I fiddled withe the block size. Still no go so far. I have enforce bandwidth set too. Steps to reproduce: format a compactflash card with either ext2 or ext3 filesystem. Try to mount the card through my 1.1 usb ports. Mount fails, keeps trying though reset errors: Apr 19 13:38:56 banjo kernel: sda: test WP failed, assume Write Enabled Apr 19 13:38:56 banjo kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through Apr 19 13:38:56 banjo kernel: sda: test WP failed, assume Write Enabled Apr 19 13:38:56 banjo kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through Apr 19 13:39:00 banjo kernel: sdb: assuming drive cache: write through Apr 19 13:39:00 banjo kernel: sdb: assuming drive cache: write through Apr 19 13:39:04 banjo kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 64 Apr 19 13:39:04 banjo kernel: printk: 129 messages suppressed. Same card will mount on my usb 2.0 port no problems....either ext type fs or msdos...worth repeating..sorry. Thanks for looking... ps: I have yet to find a similar bug related to a similar hardware issue: ie CF card readers. please advise ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
