Well, there's a problem, but there should be a solution too, so, I don't think it's a final verdict yet. The console works now (output), but you cannot put a getty on it. With that patch it worked, but I wasn't sure if it was a right fix. I guess, you tested the console with Greg's USB tree? The patches necessary to get console over ftdi working only now have been submitted in the "USB patches for 2.6.17" series by Greg.
