a unitech barcode scanner i got thats usb only which i think should show up/use usbhid driver and just act like a keyboard on the system doesnt do so the scanner itself i did see work in linux on a 2.4 kernel thats made for ltsp clients the 2.6 kernels ive tried at the moment include 2.6.17-rc(somethin not sure when i tried it orignally) and now with -git as of a few hours ago dmesg shows it being disconnected and reconnected i tried using the new_id thing that was added to sysfs some time ago and it showed no difference compairing it to the usb mouse i have that works i notice its not passed off to the input layer i assume that in part is due to no driver desiding its their problem isnt that what the new_id thing is suppose to allow for?
the computer im currently seeing these issues on is a via chipset based athlon64 system the thin clients with 2.4 kernel are via based system also (term 150 from disklessworkstations.com) any other info thats needed do ask im more than willing to do tests on patchs to fix the issue also proc/bus/usb/devices: T: Bus=05 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 4 Spd=1.5 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=04b4 ProdID=de61 Rev= 2.50 S: Manufacturer=Guest S: Product=Generic KB-HID C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=100mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=01 Prot=01 Driver=(none) E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.)
