Is this the upstream patch that corrects the b/w problem experienced with the older kernels? http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/gregkh/usb/2.6/2.6.17/usb-cdc-acm-add-a-new-special-case-for-modems-with-buggy-firmware.patch I had missed this patch when I last looked.
