Hi, been struggling to get the touchscreen (LG L1730SF) to work with kernel 2.6.17.8.
When I plug the screen's USB cable in, usbtouchscreen loads and the device is visible when I look at /proc/bus/input/devices, but there is no output from /dev/input/event*. I also patched usbtouchscreen to version 0.4, but with no change. I then modded the Makefile in drivers/usb/input to also compile itmtouch (not sure how to select this module from the kernel config screen). When I remove usbtouchscreen and load itmtouch, the output of /proc/bus/input/devices is the same as before (except for sysfs part), but output appears on /dev/input/event* when I touch the screen. I then found the coordinates to be all jumpy, rotated and flipped. I modded itmtouch as in the diff below. The screen outputs 0x80 at data[7] when touched and 0xa0 when not touched. When not touched, the x, y coordinates in data[*] are junk. It appears that usbtouchscreen would be the default in future, so if I can run tests to help fix it for this specific screen, please send me an email. I am not sure how to distinguish between ITM screens, the usb ID seems the same as the one in itmtouch and I suppose itmtouch works as is for some other screens. regards jp diff: ----8<---- --- /usr/src/linux/drivers/usb/input/itmtouch.orig.c 2006-08-15 13:36:57.000000000 +0200 +++ /usr/src/linux/drivers/usb/input/itmtouch.c 2006-08-15 13:38:31.000000000 +0200 @@ -111,9 +111,9 @@ input_regs(dev, regs); /* if pressure has been released, then don't report X/Y */ - if (data[7] & 0x20) { - input_report_abs(dev, ABS_X, (data[0] & 0x1F) << 7 | (data[3] & 0x7F)); - input_report_abs(dev, ABS_Y, (data[1] & 0x1F) << 7 | (data[4] & 0x7F)); + if (~data[7] & 0x20) { + input_report_abs(dev, ABS_Y, (data[0] & 0x1F) << 7 | (data[3] & 0x7F)); + input_report_abs(dev, ABS_X, 4096 - ((data[1] & 0x1F) << 7 | (data[4] & 0x7F))); } input_report_abs(dev, ABS_PRESSURE, (data[2] & 1) << 7 | (data[5] & 0x7F)); ----8<---- Together with the evtouch xorg module, the screen then worked fine.
