It's a very minor problem, unlikely to bother anybody and definitely not serious. It arises only if a root hub is already suspended when a system sleep starts, the root hub loses power or is reset during the sleep, and a device is connected or disconnected before the system wakes up. Under those circumstances and without the patch, khubd would not notice the port change event and would not resume the root hub. Of course there shouldn't be any harm adding that patch into 2.6.18, but I think we can live without it for a while.
