I am running Fedora Core 6 with the vendor kernel. I have a LaCie USB 2.0 drive connected. If I plug the drive in after the machine has booted, usb_storage gets loaded on demand and everything works.
If the machine gets rebooted while the drive is plugged in, usb_storage does not get loaded on bootup and I can't use the drive without powering it off and back on. After the reboot lsusb shows does show: Bus 005 Device 005: ID 059f:0651 LaCie, Ltd Bus 005 Device 004: ID 059f:0651 LaCie, Ltd But usb_storage is not loaded and udev does not create the device. I have put a script which loads the module in /etc/sysconfig/modules/ and that gets it "working" well enough that a mount command in /etc/rc.local works. However, the device is not ready in time to be automatically mounted from fstab. (Says it can't find the filesystem label.) It has been suggested that I try a vanilla kernel to rule out a Fedora specific bug. But I can't do that until this weekend at the earliest since the server is live during weekdays. Is this the proper list for this problem? Thanks for any assistance, Steve Bergman ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
