I'm a bit confused - your comment in the patch mentions this can also be
used as a virtual CDROM drive - so your patch disables that functionality
and enables the modem functionality, right? What about users who want to use
the virtual CDROM functionality.

Also - patches should be contextual diffs - see the
Documentation/SubmittingPatches file.
