Great!  Can you post the dmesg output with the new patch applied, so I can 
see exactly what it does?

It probably does provide the correct fix; I'll know for certain when I see 
your dmesg log.  Assuming it does, I'll submit it for 2.6.21 and the 
various .stable kernels.
