The newer FTDI 232R series chips (vs 232B, which isn't ROHS-conformant)
is better in various ways, but to get specs you evidently need to sign
an NDA with the company.  You may have noticed the affliction of their
public docs:  an assumption that everyone uses MS-Windows, so that if
they provide an i386 DLL they've satisfied everyone.
