Ok here's a serious suggestion to go forward

Submit a patch for now which makes the Huwaei unusual devs entry
conditional on a config entry so you can select

Support Huawei USB virtual CD-ROM on the Huawei E220  Y/N

This option enables the virtual CD-ROM support for the Huawei E220. In
order to use this option you need the Huawei tools which can be downloaded
from:  [somewhere well known]


and clean the userspace up so that

-       The firmware license is sorted
-       The userspace app includes instructions/basic info in English as
well as Czech(?)
-       The userspace integrates directly with the udev scripts so it is
run automatically if added


Once the userspace is sane and in all the distributions the configuration
option can eventually go away.
