Oh, crap. I see now what you and Jon were trying to tell me.

Maybe the the best solution is to abandon the extended version then,
and make a new format, with wire-format byte order and all? This would
force libpcap to define yet another link level type, as I understand,
but at least zero-copy would work. Greg is going to be unhappy with
me, I'm sure, but...
