Hallo.
At the beginning I would like to tell there are no problems when modem
works in bulk mode (use bulk IN endpoint for incoming data). Problems
are when use isoc data endpoint, which is already default in ueagle-atm driver.
On isoc mode ueagle-atm driver set fastest alternate setting for input
interface,
which has wMaxPacketSize=1x1007 per frame (7.6 Mbits/s for fast usb) .
If usb_set_interface() fail driver try other isoc alternate setting, but
bandwidth is
allocated asynchronously and usb_set_interface() return 0 most the time.
I think ueagle-atm driver should be more friendly to other (fast) devices
on bus and not resserve a lot of bandwidth when not needed.
But my only idea to achevie this is let the user choose proper alternate
setting.
Does provide input_altsetting module param is good idea or there is some better
way?
There seems to be enough bandwidth to ueagle-atm in isoc mode and mouse,
but I have problems with these two connected to the same usb hub.
Tests was done on two machines, with kernel 2.6.21.1 + gregkh-all patch
applied. First one is old pentium 2 with uhci hcd, second one is
modern amd64 with ohci hcd. In older one when connecting modem to bus mouse
stops working (can not read any data from corresponding /dev/input/mouse
node). Even after disconnect modem there was no data from mouse, only replug
mouse help. In modern machine the same behavior was observable until kernel
version 2.6.19 and disappear in 2.6.20. So I suppose this can be fixed in
uhci too. If you need more debug info let me know, for now I only
attach "lsusb -v" output.
However on modern ohci controller is not everyting ok. There are
sometimes -EXDEV errors in isoc frames. If bad frame have some data
ATM cells are missing, then usbatm print errors and carried PDU must
to be dropped. Here is excerpt from verbose debug dmesg (dev=3 is modem,

EXDEV errors occurs only when there is full traffic on bus from/to all
endpoints
in the same time. Is this a ohci bug or really there is no bandwidth on the
