(Sorry, I just got back from vacation...)
Streaming commands/data/status together is a bad idea. I used to get
e-mail pretty regularly from people who were trying this, only to discover
that the devices couldn't handle it.
Technically, it's spec-legal. Practically, it's a dead duck.
