Hi,
I have a Simple technology photoreader wich in fact is a datafab smartmedis reader.
Vendor id 07c4 (datafab) and type a006 soft version 15.
This reader works great using the patch on following link
http://sackheads.org/~mayfield/usb.html
It states that it would work for the CF reader as well.
What you need is scsi support and scsi disk module ( sd_mod )
Then you patch the storage driver with the patch and compile the usb-storage module.
Then you can mount it as sda1 ( may be sdxx if you have other scsi devices)
Have no problem to use my reader, it eaven hotplugs whit a little tweek in the
hotplug script. Can read and write it and formate it (but my cam dont like it :) )
And its fast.
So if they plan to invent the weel again they ar wellcome, but from my point of view
it woult be better to support Jimmie Mayfield in he's effort to inprove the driver.
That's all from me
Ken
