Hi,

I would like to know if there is any effort being made to develop
drivers for the USB Lexar Compact Flash/SmartMedia/ATA reader/writer.
Here's some info from /proc/bus/usb/devices:

Here's the device's home page:

http://www.digitalfilm.com/products/usb_cf_main.html

This device is mentioned on the "working devices list" page linked from
www.linux-usb.com under Mass Storage here:

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdv.php3?id=506

I contacted Brad Hards, the person mentioned in the "Linux-USB Link" on
that page. Link:

http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/SourceForge/4563/25/4682059/

and he suggested that I contact this list. So, here I am. :)

This device can read/write a SmartMedia card and a ComapctFlash or ATA
card concurrently. To use a compact flash card, it must be inserted into
an adapter shaped like an ATA card (formerly PCMCIA) and then inserted
into the ATA slot. The device has a separate SmartMedia slot. This is
what enables it to read/write 2 cards concurrently.

I have the device working under windows 2000 and am willing to perform
whatever steps are necessary to obtain information pertaining to the
device's functionality under windows if this will help develop a Linux
driver. I have been in contact with the developer of the usb-storage
patch for the DataFab chip based USB Compact Flash readers and he's
given me instructions on how to obtain information from the USB. (I once
had a DataFab chip based reader which I returned to the store since I
could not get it to work even in windows).

Please advise as to the status of this device in Linux and if there's
anything I can do to help. I'm not a device driver programmer but I do
know my way around a Linux system and am capable of patching source and
recompiling kernel modules.

Thank you,

Daniel Ceregatti
