Hello, I just downloaded and installed kernel 2.4.3 and tested my Fujifim Finepix 1400 with this new kernel. I find that initially the camera works fine. But when I disconnect the cable or turn the camera off after unmounting /dev/sda1 which is the contents of my SmartMedia card I get the following message on the console on standard error: uhci: host controller halted. very bad After that it is impossible to mount /dev/sda1 again as the imho incorrect message "wrong major/minor versions for /dev/sda1" is given. After getting the "host controller halted. very bad" error message the only way to get the camre to work once again under Linux is to boot into Win2K (or presumably some other WinXX you have), plug your camera in and turn it on, stop USB mass storage from the start menu, and boot into Linux. The camera will then work again. My question now is, how do I safely hotplug (including unplugging) my USB camera when Linux is running? There should be a way to avoid having to shut down Linux to unplug the camera and turn it off. Thanks for everything, Neil _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
