I tried to post this earlier.. and I never saw it show up.. So trying
again.. Sorry if two of them show up..

===================

I am trying to configure an HP PhotoSmart 1000 printer for USB.

I currently have this printer set up as a parallel printer.

I am running 2.2.19 Kernel.

>From the various documentation sources (I wish they would put
everything in one place) I have done the following...

1. Created the /dev/usb/lp0 device

2. Mounted /proc/bus/usb

3. Installed modules usbcore usb-ohci and printer

4. Changed printer entry in /etc/printcap to use /dev/usb/lp0
   instead of /dev/lp0

5. Restarted lpd

Here is what is in my messages log..

Apr 9 22:31:33 pete2 kernel: usb-ohci.c: USB OHCI at membase 0xc8818000, IRQ 11

Apr 9 22:31:37 pete2 kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device -1

This was in the syslog..

Apr 9 22:31:37 pete2 kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address (error=-110)
Apr 9 22:31:37 pete2 kernel: usb.c: USB device not accepting new address (error=-12)

The printer was connected.. and turned on..

I think that about covers it all.. but .. It doesn't work. Any ideas
where I went wrong?
