Hello,
I have a problem with the HP8290 CD writer. I applied the patch appeared on
this list, and I have been able to burn/copy data CDs (or read them)
without any problem.
When I try to burn audio CDs I randomly experience the following error:
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
and the the system
1) when I use the usb-uhci module -> Oopses with a
Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler.
In interrupt handler: not syncing
2) when I use the uhci module -> cdrecord freezes, but it leaves the system
usable (except for usb). At least I can do a clean reboot.
This happens when I do a loop such as
for i in *.mp3 do; mpg123 -s $i | cdrecord -audio -waiti -nofix - ; done
cdrecord (version 1.10a) freezes after the warning:
> cdrecord: WARNING: ... data may not fit on disk.
(but I know that it will fit :-)
and is not reproducible, in the sense that when I reboot and launch the
same script on a new CD it stops after a different number of tracks
burned.
BTW the same error appears when I tried the (0.0.2g alpha version of) the
packet writing software:
# ./cdrwtool -d /dev/scd0 -q -t 4
using device /dev/scd0
setting speed to 4
sr0: CDROM (ioctl) reports ILLEGAL REQUEST.

setting write speed to 4x
Settings for /dev/scd0:

I'm going to do a quick setup of /dev/scd0. The disc is going to be blanked
and
formatted with one big track. All data on the device will be lost!! Press

And that's more or less all. If somebody could help me (expecially with the
audio burning errors above) I would be grateful.
Thanks.
Giovanni.
