Hello, I just bought a USB serial converter from USB Gear. It is a Magic Control Technology (vendor=711 product=230). I can send data to the serial device but cannot receive anything. I have connected a serial modem at the other end and can send it commands (speed, parity, etc are thus correct), but I don't get any data from the modem even though the RX/TX lights on the modem and on the USB converter lit up. I can even connect to a remote site as far as I can blindly guess the data it is sending back to me, but it is not very useful to say the least... Here are the details: Sony VAIO PCG-C1VN Linux RedHat 7.0 Upgraded kernel to 2.4.3 insmod usbserial vendor=0x711 product=0x230 device is properly detected and identified in /proc/bus/usb/devices: T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0711 ProdID=0230 Rev= 1.02 S: Manufacturer=USB-RS232 Interface Converter S: Product=USB Ver1.1 Device S: SerialNumber=120640 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr=100mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Any help would be appreciated as this is one of the last functionality I need with Linux to avoid booting Windoze anymore.
