Ok...
so as I understand it... Sony WAS violating the GPL which caused the
authors of a mostly working USB driver for the Clie to stop developement.
Thsi was gleamed from a /. story. It also implied that part of this was
due to a sony employee brushing off said developer and saying essentialy
that sony didn't care and their lawyers would crush them... However I
also heard that sony has since rectified the error in their ways and
released their source for the Clie Version of POSER - the main point of
contention. Is this true? if so is the Clie USB driver going forward.
Is Sony still putting up a stink? if so can I help get them pointed in
the right direction? I'll do what it takes to get the message to Sony
that they are meat heads for not allowing others to develope software for
them. Of course I also don't want to trod upon toes that are in the
process of making amends. I'm tired of companies screwing rights of the
little guy (copyright is for the corp, not the artist / coder). Instead
of giving up on writing the driver how about we get this issue
straightened out.

IMHO this isn't a matter of Linux platform advocacy... Its a matter of
violating those very intelectual property rights that these big
corperations are fighting for... But I don't have recent developements...
I only want to act if its in the right place. If they are not giving up I
want to return my Clie... I don't want to own a piece of hardware which
is being developed in violation of the GPL.
                        Keith
