(Linux 2.4.5 not seeing Microtech DPCM.)
Thank you for the help.
OK, I edited CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_SDDR09 into .config, and rebuilt.
(Odd that 'make menuconfig' doesn't do anything with it. Is there
a patch?) Now usb-storage.o has sddr09.o linked in.
I also built usb-uhci.o to try out.
Nothing behaves much different, except that usb-storage under usb-uhci
reports "Transport: Control/Bulk-EUSB/SDDR09", and dmesg shows:
Vendor: Model: Rev:
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Detected scsi removable disk sdb at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
once in a while.
Sometimes I get
"uhci: host controller halted. very bad"
when I unplug; I reboot before trying anything else, after that.
Sometimes I get "Driver=(none)" and other times "Driver=usb-storage"
in /proc/bus/usb/devices, depending on what has been rmmod'ed or
modprobed recently. When the latter, dd reports "/dev/sda:
Input/output error". When "Driver=(none)", dd reports "sda: no such
device or address".
I tried it with usb-uhci.o instead of uhci.o. Not much difference.
It reports ETIMEOUT errors a lot.
I have usbmgr-0.4.6 running, but it's hard to tell it does anything
besides load usbcore.o. Maybe I don't want to run that? Is it
necessary, for troubleshooting, to have a usb daemon running?
