Did you read and follow the install instructions in the Linux USB Guide?

Also, remember that a 2.2.X kernel is not good enough. You need a 2.4 series
kernel.
If you need further help, please provide specific details of what didn't work,
applicable sections of your kernel logs, /proc/bus/usb/[drivers, devices] and
any user space error messages.
