Hi folks,
I'm trying to set up an HP DESKJET 640C on USB.
I was searching all the docs and FAQ's but I seem to miss
something.
With usb-printer-id /proc/bus/usb/001/003 I get:
MFG:HEWLETT-PACKARD;MDL:DESKJET
640C;CMD:MLC,PCL,PML;CLASS:PRINTER;DESCRIPTION:Hewlett-Packard DeskJet
640C;VSTATUS:$CB0$RC0,ff,DN,IDLE;
So it seems the system is recognizing the device. I'm not sure how I can
point this printer to /dev/usb/lp0.
I was manually setting up the HP printer driver with printtool and it shows
up in the list
but the test 'Print ASCII directly to port' fails with 'couldn't write file
"/dev/usb/lp0": no such device'.
Well the command 'mknod /dev/usb/lp0 c 180 0' returns "mknod: /dev/usb/lp0:
File exists".
Now what?
(Quote "The Mummy" Jonathan: A little help would be helpful if that is not
to much trouble!")
Thank you very much,
-- Bernd
