Hey there,

I've got a couple of machines connected to a Belkin USB KVM. This thing
takes in a PS/2 keyboard and mouse, and acts as a 4-port USB Hum, and
connects to the USB Port on each machine. If you plug in a PS/2 mouse or
keyboard it translates them to USB. I've avtually got a USB mouse and
keyboard though, and nothing else, connected to the thing.

The cool thing is when you switch to, say, a Windows box, it can take
around 15 seconds for all the devices to get rediscovered. Linux usually
takes 2 seconds or less.

On the other hand, sometimes Linux doesn't recover. /var/log/messages
shows this:

Sep 17 22:29:39 dragon kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1,
assigned device number 15
Sep 17 22:29:42 dragon kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout

whenever you switch. At this point I'm on a running machine with no HID,
even if I plug devices directrly into the machine, bypassing th KVM.

Anyone have any ideas about how to prevent this, or recover from it? This
is with Linux 2.4.9 on a debian system.

TIA,

-Yaron
