I am a newbie and recently installed Linux PPCQ4 on my powermac and
I have some trouble getting my Keyspan twin serial adapter to work:
Can anybody help me?
Computer: B&W G3
Kernel: 2.2.18
Keyspan is a version of the USA28, connected to a serial modem
V90.
I created two tty devices by mknod in /dev/usb/ttyusb0 and usb1
I created a link /dev/modem to /dev/usb/ttyusb0 (by the way does the name of
the device really matters? )
I loaded usbserial.o and keyspan.o by modprobe (do I need to load both?)
and I added these two in /etc/modules.conf so that they load automatically
(is that the right thing to do?)
The keyspan seems to be recognized in /proc/bus/usb/devices (I see a line
with Keyspan there. but is there a better way to check that my modem is
recognized ?)
Then when I try to use the modem by wvdial or kppp, the complete kernel
freezes I have to reboot! (is there a simpler way to check the modem?)
Do I need a later version of usbserial or keyspan.o? How can I check the
version?
Any hint appreciated...
Bruno.
