Ack. My apologies. It's been a while since I looked into this problem. My statement was general. I seem to remember AC sending me something along those lines when I was having this problem, but, of course, I can't find the message he sent, so nevermind. ;) Generally, I've had very few USB + SMP-specific problems in the 2.4 kernels. Most of my USB+SMP problems had to do with the crappy Via chipset I was using (Tiger Apollo 133something).
Anyway, after looking over some of my saved email, I seem to recall using uhci.o vs usb-uhci.o for USB support seemed to solve the problem that was introduced in the changes to usb-uhci in 2.4.4. Up to the point where I junked my SMP system (~2.4.8?), using the printer module with SMP enabled on my system and with the usb-uhci module loaded caused my machine to lock hard. I also heard from others with the same problem (and I seem to recall that they all had a Via chipset too). I apologize for being too general. I greatly appreciate all the great USB work you and Greg and all the others have been doing for us, while at the same time being very helpful to the clueless ones such as myself. ;) pete On Fri, 02 Nov 2001, Johannes Erdfelt wrote: > The Linux USB code is designed to be SMP safe. > > There may be some SMP bugs still left, but it's not because we didn't > try to support SMP at all. > > JE > > On Fri, Nov 02, 2001, Pete Toscano <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Are either of you running on an SMP system?
