Hello--

(please cc me as I'm not subscribed).

I have been using my visor with Linux since the 2.4.0-pre days, and have been
very happy with how well it works. Wanting USB support for the visor actually
forced me to delve into kernel compiles for the first time, and it's been a
fun ride. I've never had a great understanding of how the modules.conf thing
works, so I always just compiled the required USB support in, which worked
fine, until.....

I bought a shiny new Logitech optical wheel mouse and decided to use it via
USB instead of PS2 so that I could use the wheel. I poked around some with
the mouse config and eventually got it up and running using modules. Instead
of trying to fight with the modules for the visor myself, and since it seemed
to fit perfectly with hotplug (a device that is not always present), I
installed hotplug from rpm (hotplug-core-2001_09_19-1 and
hotplug-utils-2001_09_19-1).

Initially all seemed great, the first sync (via jpilot) worked, and I saw the
hotplug output in syslog. However, one of the subsequent syncs caused a
lockup of the mouse and fail of the sync with the error:

Nov 17 13:24:30 bc kernel: usb-ohci.c: unlink URB timeout

After this, I (from another console) attempted to regain mouse control by
rmmod'ing the USB modules and reloading them, restarting X etc, but could not
get the mouse back without rebooting (this could easily be user error on my
part).

Kernels I have tried so far:
2.4.13-ac6+preempt
2.4.15-pre5+preempt

with an OHCI Root Hub.

Is anyone else having this trouble, or am I making a stupid mistake? I have
recompiled with USB verbose debugging enabled, and I can provide the syslog
output and /proc/bus/usb/devices output before, during, and after if needed.

Thanks in advance.
Chris P.
