I posted back in August asking if anyone had any tips for getting
Seagate's USB Travan drive working with the mass storage driver under
Linux. Sadly, no one did and I've been unable to use the drive with
my Linux system since that time.

However, I'm happy to report that the situation has now changed. With the
release of the 2.4.16 kernel (and probably .15 though I didn't try it
due to the fs corruption issue), the proper modules now load quickly
upon connect of the device and I've been able to backup and restore
data successfully.

The SCSI tape driver still reports some errors like the following,
but I haven't noticed any problems with actual function:

somehost kernel: st0: Error with sense data: Current st09:00: sense key Illegal Request

I believe that the updated Freecom driver mentioned in the .15 Changelog
is what made the difference. Those who worked on this driver and the
USB system in general have my appreciation.
