I posted almost the exact same problem a couple of days ago.  If you
find anything out, let me know.

I get timeouts for two minutes before the HID driver lists it as
connected.

I used to have my USB keyboard attached to the same port that the
monitor outputs on, and my keyboard wouldn't activate until that
particular port finished timing out and was registered by the USB
stack under linux.
