Hi,

I recently bought a very cheap ( GBP30 ) digital camera.

Now I know it was not listed as a supported device but

a number on the gphoto2 list are "silly" names

( like KBGear JamCam ) so at that price I thought I

would see what I could do.

I am running Mandrake Linux 8 ( kernel 2.4.3 -20mdk )

In fact I have tried various camera options with

gphoto2 and part of the output using the

KBGear JamCam driver is as follows :

gphoto2-port-core(2): Loaded 'Serial Port 30' (serial:/dev/ttyS30) from
'libgphoto2_port_serial.so.0.0.4'
gphoto2-port-core(2): Loaded 'Serial Port 31' (serial:/dev/ttyS31) from

and then the following was repeated over and over until
I pressed ^C
--------------------------------------------------
jamcam(1): * jamcam_write_packet
gphoto2-port(2): Writing 4=0x4 byte(s) to port...
gphoto2-port(3): Hexdump of 4 = 0x4 bytes follows:

gphoto2-port(2): Reading 4=0x4 bytes from port...
gphoto2-port(2): Reading 4=0x4 bytes from port...

At which point I got the following :

Exiting gPhoto...

gphoto2-port(2): Opening SERIAL port...
jamcam(1): * camera_exit
gphoto2-port(2): Closing port...
gphoto2-filesystem(2): Internally deleting all folders from '/'...
gphoto2-port(2): Freeing port...
gphoto2-port(2): Closing port...
gphoto2-filesystem(2): Internally deleting all folders from '/'...

Does this mean anything to anybody?

If it looks as though I may actually be getting somewhere I

would have a go at modifying the code if necessary.

thanks for any help.
