Again thanks for your help, I dident get the chance to respond until after I
got home from vacation.

I tried 2.4.17 and it still dident work, still having issues getting scsi to
recognise the usb-storage device.

again my configuration is. slackware 8.0, kernel 2.4.17, sony DSC P-50
camera
I am not using devfs, I have scsi and usb components compiled as modules,
usbdevfs is mounted on /proc/bus/usb and is functioning. I do not have a
real scsi controller.

here is the procedure I am using to set it up.

root@entelin:/# modprobe usb-storage
root@entelin:/# lsmod

(
I have a usb mouse, wacom tablet, and the camera plugged in as you can see
I have tried to disconnect the other usb devices to simplify the situation
however it does the same thing.
)

root@entelin:/proc/bus/usb# cd ../../scsi
root@entelin:/proc/scsi# ls
scsi
root@entelin:/proc/scsi# cat scsi
Attached devices: none

(however scsi doesnt see it?)

root@entelin:/proc/scsi# cd /mnt
root@entelin:/mnt# mount -t msdos /dev/sda1 ./cam
mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device

(and of course I cant mount it)

Well... cut and paste is a good thing

Thanks for your help :)
