First off, what kernel are you using?  The pl2303 driver has had a
number of updates to it recently, and you should be using the latest
kernel to get all of them.

If you are using the latest kernel, can you load the driver with
"debug=1" and send the kernel debug log for when the data "hiccups and
stops"?
