Hi...

I have a
 074e Digital Stream Corp.
    0002 PS/2 Adapter

Now I plugged a PS/2 mouse into the adapter and...

I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub

E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl= 10ms

...the USB keyboard driver is loaded

Looking at the docu auf the adapter...
  http://www.infoaomori.ne.jp/DSC/quickinstall_e.html

...I wasn't overjoyed to read:
"The DS068001A provides you with two operation modes:
  Keyboard mode:
Allows you to use the keyboard only.
  Mouse and keyboard compatible mode:
Allows you to use the keyboard and mouse, or the mouse only.
Two different drivers are required respectively for these modes."

So if I only connect one device it automatically gets detected as
keyboard?!?

This is my first venture into USB land and after much google-ing
and trying loading drivers per hand etc. my wisdom is ending.

Questions:
Does someone use the same adapter, if yes, how does it work?

Is there a way to "force" the driver loading?

Is this maybe a no-way adventure, as the Windows driver maybe has
special code to switch adapter modes? (I don't have Win, so I can't test
the Win side...)

Is there an easy way to "fake" a PS/2 keyboard on one port (by connecting
2 pins?...) so maybe the adapter automatically uses the correct mode?

Distribution: Suse 7.3

Thanks for any help,
Martin
