I wonder why support of every new USB device will be built into kernel in the format of loadable modules. Why can't we redesign the USB core module(s), and make supporting of a specific USB device to be just an application. I've been experiencing so much of kernel crashes from new USB devices, each one can understand the benefit of an appliation level driver against a kernel level driver. Can someone tell me what are the difficulties here for application level drivers?
